New York, Mar 5 (PTI) An Indian-origin veteran of the financial services industry has been appointed as the first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

UN special envoy calls Security Council for urgent action on Myanmar coup

United Nations, Mar 5 (PTI) The Myanmar military has killed around 50 innocent and peaceful protesters and injured many more in its “worst crackdowns” since the February 1 coup, the UN Secretary General’s special envoy on Myanmar told the Security Council, calling for urgent collective action to ensure perpetrators of human rights violations are held accountable through “international mechanisms.” “There is an urgency for collective action. How much more can we allow the Myanmar military to get away with?,” Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Myanmar Christine Schraner Burgener told the Security Council on Friday.

ECP has 'not and will never' come under any pressure: top election body on Pak PM's allegations

Islamabad, Mar 5 (PTI) Pakistan's election commission on Friday expressed shock and disappointment over Prime Minister Imran Khan's allegations against it, asserting that the Senate elections were held as per the Constitution and it has "never come under any sort of pressure and God willing, will not in future as well."
